What's In a Quality Install

The differences between a $5/sq ft and $9/sq ft install: base depth (3" vs 4-5" of compacted aggregate), geo-textile separator (none vs woven barrier on red clay), infill grade (loose silica vs antimicrobial coated silica or Envirofill), seam quality (glue-only vs heat-bonded with pro seam tape), edging (exposed nail edge vs recessed paver/concrete border), and warranty (1-3 yr vs 15-Year Platinum Promise). Cheap installs cost the same to remove and redo as new install — pay once, do it right.

Pet-Specific Turf — What Actually Matters

For pet yards, three specs matter beyond standard turf: antimicrobial backing (kills bacteria that cause urine odor at the source), extra drainage holes (300+ holes/sq yd vs 100 standard, prevents urine pooling), and antimicrobial infill (Zeofill or coated silica that traps and neutralizes ammonia). Every pet-grade install we do includes these three. Pet odor is solvable; cheap installs that skip this spec are why people think turf "smells in summer."

Installation Process

Day 1: site survey, marking, irrigation removal if needed. Day 2: existing grass/sod removal, excavation 3-4 inches. Day 3: base aggregate placement, geo-textile, compaction. Day 4: turf roll-out, heat-bonded seams, edging install. Day 5: infill brush-in, final inspection, walkthrough. Standard 800 sq ft install: 3-4 days total. Larger yards: add 1 day per 800 sq ft.

HOA Approval

Georgia HB 548 (2022) restricts HOA blanket bans on artificial turf, but most HOAs still require an architectural review submission.
